I'm surprised I don't see enough businesses asking for their website visitors email address or even more like their name and phone number. It's beginning to happen a little bit, but it reminds me of the "early days" on the Internet because all they are giving away is a newsletter.
Newsletter don't work alone these days. You need to really give your visitors something that will help them make a decision to use your business. Here's a website that our company has been working with... it's a Scottsdale chiropractic office and we are testing where to put the lead capture box.
I'm beginning to think that you can no longer have a good lead capture box in the sidebar of a website. They are completely ineffective. You have to get it in the face of the visitor through either a light box or inside any particular post.
I will be talking a lot more about building a list of your prospects and a list of your customers because that's very important and can revolutionize your business.
If you're currently building a list, let me know what you're results have been. Remember that building a list is one thing, but consistently communicating and converting that list into customers is another thing.

Local Dog Boarding Businesses... Take Note
Ok... here is a website we are working on to help get a local dog boarding company in Charleston some traffic. It's in it's early stages of development and really at this point we are working on getting the site indexed.
But there is a really important lesson to learn about this site at this time. First it's very simple and easy to navigate. All businesses need to take note o this... people will not hang around a website that's confusing or difficult to navigate.
Second, it has lots of great content and more content is being added all the time. It's very easy to develop a website... or as I like to call them... customer funnels... and set it up only to never really touch it again.
Don't do this... continue to add content to your website. And add content to your site that will help you prospects and customers make a decision to do business with you.
If you try that for a month and you don't notice a HUGE increase in traffic then... call me up and request some money from me. But I can guarantee you that adding content will help you in a big way.
We will take a closer look at this site as it develops.

Internet Marketing for Local Businesses... Why You Need to Care!
As my first post on this blog, I wanted to introduce a little about why you should care about Internet marketing for your local - brick and mortal - business.
Simply put... that's where the people who are looking for you are searching.
I'm going to be a little in your face here and say... I don't care if you think your business will grow just on word of mouth. If you relay on just one form of marketing, then you will lose. Think of it like this...
A patient of yours can and will tell a friend, but the friend that is told has other friends. It's highly likely that they were told about your competitor's service. And if you market your business then you can create a bigger word of mouth buzz.
Finally, I wanted to say that as the Internet gets bigger, it will begin to focus. That means that as more and more websites and information is released, Google and other search engines and even social media will begin to focus on all that content that's in your area.
In other words when somebody wants your service the results of their search will tend to be more and more local. That's the trend that is happening.
